The idea for Cincy EZPark developed in 2014, when Cincinnati City Council decided to upgrade the on-street parking system by including new “smart" parking meters in various parts of the city. These state-of-the-art meters made parking easier for motorists by accepting both coins and credit cards. However, the City wanted to take the high-tech plan a step further by setting up a mobile parking payments system.
That’s where the City’s partnership with integrator Xerox and the mobile payments company Passport comes in. Together, they brought Passport's industry-leading PassportParking app to Cincinnati. With this mobile app, customers can use their cellphones to pay for parking, extend their parking session without having to return to the meter, receive notifications before their parking sessions expire, as well as view and print their receipts online. Parking customers have the ability to seamlessly start a parking session, whether it’s by the PassportParking app, at http://m.ppprk.com, or by calling (513) 253-0493.
Currently, the mobile pay technology is available at more than 4,000 meters in Central Business District, Over-the-Rhine and neighborhood business districts.
Passport is the leading provider of mobile payment platforms for transportation systems, including parking systems and transit systems. The company provides feature rich software platforms that offer parking and transit agencies a more effective and efficient way to manage their operations and serve their customers. Passport’s mobile payment systems are deployed in over 1,000 international locations. These large-scale implementations include clients such as Chicago, Toronto and Boston.
Passport is backed by a highly respected group of investors, including Grotech Ventures and Relevance Capital. For more information, please visit passportinc.com.
